Delia Sebastian and Jake Tyler are assigned to work together, by going back in time to seek out the first piece of an alien artifact, called the Karanovo Bronze Seal. Delia does not want to go with Jake as her partner. She has a past with him that left her hurt. Jake however, looks forward to spending time with her again, as he still misses her.
They go back to ancient Rome during the time of Julius Caesar, with the hope of finding Caesar’s mistress, Servilia. Posing as Grecian mercenaries proves dangerous as they join Servilia’s household as guards, hoping through her to find the artifact and avoid assassins.
Danger mounts when an alien takes over the body of Caesar’s scribe to hide in, as he also seeks the seal. Delia and Jake need to find it and keep each other safe to survive the mission and save the future earth from enslavement.
THE SEEKER is the first book in a series by different authors in a new, romantic sci-fi, time travel series, in which different authors will write novels. This is an interesting tale with strong willed main characters that battle with one another as well as their dangerous enemy. The story starts slowly, as the key background information is provided, but it’s an interesting idea. The protagonists go back in time to 44 BC, and the action becomes fast-paced and swords are drawn.
Delia and Jake’s old attraction ignites again in ancient Rome, as they fight side by side and try to avoid the alien and keep Caesar and Servilia safe at a time when the Ides of March is near. The reader is taken through history’s intrigues to see both the rich and the seamier side of life, where anyone can end up as a slave or dead, making it an interesting read.
THIS IS NOT AN ENDORSEMENT OF THIS BOOK. THIS IS AN OBJECTIVE UNBIASED REVIEW
