Marissa Rotherhild has been a proper lady and it has gotten her exactly nothing in return. So now she wants to experience pleasure and asks Lord Valentine Kent a most shocking proposal: show her the ways of lust and love. Lord Valentine Kent has no idea what to make of the beauty in front of him. He desires her touches and though tempted, he tries to resist Marissa at every turn except the closer they get the more he wants her. Even with his best intentions, Kent will find himself drawing closer to the one woman who holds his heart.
A MOST SINFUL PROPOSAL is a wonderful story full of engaging characters, a passionate romance and adventure. This is a “new to me” author who delivers a wonderful story to enjoy on a hot summer afternoon. I read this in one sitting and loved it. Tight writing, a fast paced storyline, some wonderful characters that appealed to me and a romance that fairly simmered when Kent and Marissa were on the page that had sparks flying. I swore the book was smoking from all the sexual tension these two had throughout A MOST SINFUL PROPOSAL.
Meet Marissa Rotherhild, a woman who was the proper society lady and it has brought her nothing in return. So now to shake things up, she wants to experience passion and love and she has her sight set on Lord Valentine Kent. Marissa is smart and knows just what she wants in her future husband. When she meets Valentine, she finds herself falling for the one man who stirs her desires and doesn’t think she needs to be something other than herself. Valentine is a widower who never thought to remarry until he meets Marissa. Valentine Kent is determined to find an ancient family treasure and with Marissa by his side, they both find something that neither anticipate-love. These two characters are wonderful. They are the perfect foil for one another. Marissa has issues that deal with accepting what her parents want of her in marriage or to follow her heart-consequences be damned. Perfectly balanced, Ms. Bennett delivers a wonderful story to fall in love with and characters that steal your heart. The secondary characters cracked me, especially Marissa’s grandmother, they really kept the story flowing smoothly and the villain was wonderfully multi-dimensional.
A MOST SINFUL PROPOSAL is a fun story that will leave you aching for more. I haven’t read the first Husband Hunters novel and am eager to read it after experiencing this one. Ms. Bennett is a wonderful storyteller and one author I am eager to explore more of. If you enjoy a fast paced historical romance with complex characters than this is the book for you. Run-don’t walk to grab this latest from an author who knows how to weave a story around her readers. A MOST SINFUL PROPOSAL is surely one of the more enduring historical romances I have read in a long time and one I plan to go back to in the future.
This is an objective review and not an endorsement of this book.
