A sixteen-year-old runaway comes to Harmony, Texas hoping to find a home with gruff Jeremiah Truman who she adopts as her uncle. Harmony was founded by three families whose descendants still live in the town. Warren McAllen died a tragic death. Now his sister, Alexandra, is sheriff of Harmony. Hank Matheson, Warren’s best friend is attracted to Alexandra, but she holds him at bay. Until some prairie fires have them working together as Hank is the volunteer fire chief.

They discover these fires are not accidents; someone is targeting Harmony. Hank and Alexandra have to come face to face with their attraction and find out who is setting the fires.

This is really a well-crafted story. There are a number of very colorful, multi-faceted characters that will worm their way into your heart. As soon as Alexandra and Hank get on the scene you will sit up and take notice. Alexandra is a woman who is good at her job, but in her free time, she is wild. Hank is her knight in shining armor, even if she doesn’t appreciate it…at first. The attraction between them really sizzles and pops. When they finally get between the sheets, the sex scene could have exploded with a good graphic description, but this is not an erotic romance. Still, this is a tightly written story with a romance, a mystery and some really wonderful characters. I would like to read more from this author and am now going to take off and look up her backlist…see ya!

This is an objective review and not an endorsement of this book.
