Hugh Douglas finds he gets an unexpected birthday present in the form of a young man named Max Pierce. Max is hot, sexy and sweet….and young. Hugh has the time of his life with Max one night and though he feels his age is a stumbling block, Max shows Hugh that love can hit at any age…even with someone twenty years younger.

CORE TRAINING is the next book in this delightful series centered on a gym. Some delightful characters from the past two books (SPOT ME and PUMP ME UP) show up and help move the story along nicely but overall, this is all about Hugh and Max, two men who find love can hit at any age. I do admit to having a fondness for this author’s writing. His stories are character driven and can be sweet and hot at the same time. If you haven’t picked up one of this author’s books, then I highly suggest you run to grab one….his stories are addictive just like fine chocolate. I want to mention you don’t have to read the first two books in order to understand anything in this one. It can be read as a standalone book but once you read CORE TRAINING, you will definitely want to read the other two books as well since some of the secondary characters stories are in the first two books.

Hugh is a man who is not thrilled to reach his fortieth birthday and has never really had a long term relationship before. He finds himself drawn to a waiter named Max Pierce, a man who is all sweetness and sexiness rolled up in a tight young body. Max is a young man dealing with an alcoholic father and his feelings for Hugh. Both characters connected with me while I read CORE TRAINING. Max was a delight, always smiling and he seemed genuinely a nice young man. Hugh was a buff older man, who I wanted to meet myself. He was charming, sweet and nervous around Max, like he wasn’t sure why Max would want to be with him. What begins as a casual thing turns into something serious between the two and the reader is drawn into their world with each page. I loved the secondary characters that came back and hope they show up in future books. CORE TRAINING is a sweet yet sexy story of two people falling for one another amid personal difficulties and finding out that love happens regardless of age. Mr. Grey pens another winner in his gym series and I cannot wait for the next story. If you haven’t read one of this author’s wonderful M/M stories, what are you waiting for? Run-don’t-walk-to grab his latest story, CORE TRAINING, and settle in for an afternoon of manlove and romance.

This is an objective review and not an endorsement of this book.
