The Raines Brothers were wild in their youth but as they grew up, they had matured and became successful, honorable men. They fought to get all they have and now one last obstacle is before them all: Love.

Sarah Allen is running from an abusive marriage and returns to her home town of Wind Canyon, with her young daughter. Secrets don’t stay buried for long in a small town and when Jackson Raines finds out she is living on his ranch, he is reluctant to tell her to leave. When Sarah’s troubles pop up on the ranch, it’s up to Jackson to help Sarah deal with it, once and for all.

AGAINST THE WIND is a wildly entertaining story that leaves the reader wanting more. Ms. Martin delivers a fast paced story that deals with spousal abuse and the aftereffects, as the former spouse tries to re-establish their lives again. Ms. Martin is a talented author who empowers her heroines with inner strength and determination to perceive. Her characters connect with the reader on all levels and steal their hearts.

Sarah Allen is a strong woman who finds her life torn upside down with the murder of her husband. Determined to leave the memories behind, she moves back to her home town with her small daughter, never expecting to meet Jackson Raines again. What I love about this character is that even though she is a strong, independent woman, she needs Jackson’s help to solve the mystery of why her deceased husband’s associates, are hounding her for something she doesn’t have. Jackson hasn’t forgotten the woman who humiliated him years before. Now she is back and though he doesn’t want to deal with her, he’s drawn to the woman she has become. Jackson is a man who is dealing with a past filled with abandonment and shame, while fighting the growing feelings he has for Sarah. I love these two characters….one reason is that both have real issues they are dealing with, and the reader sees that within the pages of AGAINST THE WIND and the realism this author writes in the story made it highly enjoyable. The secondary characters kept the story flowing smoothly and had me rooting for Jackson and Sarah to beat those nasty bad guys.

AGAINST THE WIND is a highly enjoyable story that will leave you with a smile on your face in the end. The twists and turns this author pops in the story, had me on the edge of my seat and kept me flipping the pages, to see what would happen next for Sarah and Jackson in Wind Canyon, Wyoming. If you are looking for a romantic suspense story that has you hungering for the characters of Jackson and Sarah to get their happily ever after, then pick up AGAINST THE WIND. I am eager to see who falls next in the game of love in this enjoyable introduction to the Raines brothers and Wind Canyon, Wyoming. Another winner from author Kat Martin and one that I plan to read again in the future.

This is an objective review and not an endorsement of the book.
