Since Serena Donovan had died, Jonathan Dane, Earl of Stratford set about practically ruining his life. He turned to gambling, drinking and fraternizing with ladies of the night. Many years before, he had fallen in love with Serena, but his family was against the union. Just when he was ready to follow her and bring her back to England as his bride, he received the terrible news that she had died at sea. Imagine his surprise when Meg returns to London to marry the man who has been waiting for her. Meg is Serena’s twin sister and Jonathan knows that something isn’t quite right. ‘Meg’s’ game is up when Jonathan recognizes her as Serena. Jonathan isn’t about to let her go, but Meg’s betrothed knows nothing of the deceit and is expecting to marry her. Serena’s family cannot bear another scandal and if he is to claim her, it would mean the future of the Donovan family may keep them apart.
Jennifer Haymore is an author that begs to be read. She is a rising star in the historical genre and any historical romance fan must read her books. I find her stories refreshing. The plots are intricate and handle situations that are a bit different than the usual you may have read. Her characters are multi-dimensional and leap off the pages. I really loved Jonathan. You could tell right away he was a tortured hero and not just a rake. I was rooting for him all the way through and wondered just how he was going to get a happy ending. Her characters grow and develop within the story, and I also loved how Ms. Haymore kept up the sexual tension and had it boiling in no time. The pages were fairly sizzling. Her secondary characters are also interesting and add to the story. She writes good dialogue and this is a story that will engage all your emotions. So, hurry go pre-order your copy now!
