Darren White is a retired football player who finds he needs help in order to get a guest host job at a local television station. He needs help desperately since he can barely read and sounds really bad when he talks. Enter schoolteacher George Higgins, a friend of Darren’s financial manager. George has to help Darren smooth out the edges and get him up to speed as the date for the rehearsal looms even closer. What neither anticipates is falling in love amid crunch time.
What I love about Andrew Grey and his books is the way the characters literally step off the pages and become so life like, it’s like meeting them on the street or elsewhere. They are multi-dimensional and complex with real life problems that a reader can relate to. CRUNCH TIME is another wonderful story that is part of the Gym Series. The writing is tight and the story fast paced, drawing the reader in until the very end. Some familiar characters make an appearance and we meet a few new ones aswell.
Meet George Higgins, an elementary schoolteacher who is asked to help a former football player get ready for television guest host job. George is thinking it won’t happen until Darren White shows up, eager to learn from him. George never imagines that this sexy man would fall in love with him or that he would get a happily ever after. I love George and Darren so much. They had real issues they needed to deal with and that resonated with me while I was reading it. This is an author who knows his characters inside and out-their vulnerabilities and the hidden depths of their hearts. What Mr. Grey does very well is create characters that capture reader’s heart and imagination.
CRUNCH TIME is a wonderful story that tells of two people falling in love and finding that yes, you are able to have a happily ever after.
This is an objective review and not an endorsement of this book.
