All Toby Andrews knows is that he is a good Chef but has lousy luck when it seems bad things happen whenever he is around. He can’t help it when things go wrong, he is just magically in the thick of it. Forced out of working the haute cuisine in the heart of New York City, Toby finds himself unemployed and eager to get revenge on the food critic that destroyed his dreams. Finding work at a local restaurant that is on its last legs, Le Potiron, Toby finds he likes the area, the people and especially the surly owner and cook, Evan Blankenship. Sparks fly between the two men as both men find out the lesson in success as they work together in and out of bed to make Le Potiron successful.

I have got to admit, I love stories with a little humor tossed in the story to liven things up. Z. A. Maxfield does a wonderful job in creating a story that is funny, sweet and sexy all at the same time. Ms. Maxfield is a talented author who knows how to create the right balance when adding humor to her stories. Too much overwhelms, too little makes it seem off balanced. In STIRRING UP TROUBLE, she strikes the right mix of comedy and a heartfelt storyline. The setting was great. I could literally picture the Le Potiron in my head while reading STIRRING UP TROUBLE. The cast of characters was a delight and varied which made me enjoy the story more. Tight writing, fast paced storyline and a sweet romance between two people that find they are just perfect for one another make this perfect beach read.

Meet Toby Andrews. He knows he is a good chef but too many pranks, boredom and other not fun stuff cause him to be blackballed in the world of haute cuisine. He is like a bubble of energy that floats all over, stirring up chaos but always with good intentions. Finding himself unemployed & persona non grata in the haute cuisine world, he finds a job working in a restaurant that will probably close within months yet Toby finds he is drawn to Evan and the restaurant, Le Potiron. I have got to admit at times Toby annoyed me in the beginning. He had an ego and loves to steamroll over people when he thinks he is right on something. But the author does a good job in showing how flawed Toby is and his redeeming qualities eventually sold me on him as a character. Evan was surly, hated people and I laughed when he barked at Toby when they first started working together. I loved these two together. They were as different as night is to day yet Evan and Toby fit together like two sides of a coin. They were well written and the sweet romance between them had me smiling throughout the book. The secondary characters are intriguing and moved the storyline along nicely.

STIRRING UP TROUBLE is a fun, light hearted read that will leave you smiling when the last page is read. Z. A. Maxfield delivers a wonderful story of food, fun and romance as two people find that the secret to success is to have fun with it. If you are looking for a perfect beach read this summer, then you need to grab STIRRING UP TROUBLE and be prepared to laugh your way through Toby’s chaos as he finds falling in love to be just as messy as his kitchen. ZA Maxfield has a talent in creating stories that have a sweet yet sexy romance with a dash of humor in it. If you are looking for a great story to get you in a happy mood, then look no farther than STIRRING UP TROUBLE. I can’t wait to see what this author has in store next for her readers.
