The ninth book in JR Ward’s popular Black Dagger Brotherhood series, LOVER UNLEASHED, is another not-to-be-missed butt kicking, bloodletting and unexpected hot loving pairing fans of this series will relish.

This is the story of Payne, Vishous’ twin sister, and Manny, V’s ghostly Shallan Jane’s ex-boss. But it is so much more than that. This story solidifies V & Jane’s love story, wraps up questions that have been lurking with V & Butch’s relationship and raises the anticipation of a few other possible pairings that fans have been faithfully awaiting. All this and a new set of characters are introduced to boot.

In LOVER UNLEASHED, Payne has suffered a paralyzing injury and human doctor Manny Manello is called in as her only hope of walking again. This story was so very emotional. We know from earlier stories that Payne was essentially jailed in a sort of cryogenic state for hundreds of years by her mother and only recently is back among the living and reunited with a brother who didn’t know anything of her existence. Dr. Manny has had his heart broken by Dr. Jane in a previous book and has been drowning his sorrows ever since her “death”. The scene where he meets back up with Jane is positively tear jerking. But that moment is nothing compared to some of the scenes between Manny and Payne later in the story when the words practically melt off the page.

LOVER UNLEASHED, as with so many of the other Black Dagger Brotherhood stories, is a fast paced and complex story. Prior questions are resolved, new questions are raised and the foundation is set for several future books. This series just keeps getting better and better. Now stop playing with your readers already Ms. Ward and give us Blay and Quinn’s story. Haven’t we waited patiently long enough?

This is an objective review and not an endorsement of this book.
