For New York Homicide Cop Eve Dallas, it was another day on the job until she gets the call that will bring her back to her first case as a cop and in the mix, her past that will take her straight back to Dallas. For the man the media dubbed ‘The Collector’ has broken out of jail and is determined to enact revenge against the one person who stopped him cold years before-Eve Dallas.

Now the race is on as Isaac McQueen takes Eve back to the one place that still haunts her today…Dallas and from there Eve, her husband Roark and the combination of state and federal officials will race against the clock to stop this madman before another person is dead.

Whenever I pick up a J. D. Robb book, I always know I am going to get one hell of ride from start to finish and this latest In Death novel is no exception. Don’t let the title fool you, this is a classic Eve Dallas novel that will have you on the edge of your seat as you race along with Eve, Roark and others to stop a mad man bent on revenge against the one woman he perceives as the one who ruined his life. I have to caution you really need to read these in order to get the full effect in this latest book. If you start from this release you won’t understand why some of the things mentioned in here affect Eve so much, in my opinion.

NEW YORK TO DALLAS is a story full of twists & turns that had me going “OH MY GOD!” in disbelief and shock. You run the gauntlet of emotions in this one as Eve’s past returns with a vengeance and you stare in shock as one plot twist after another delivers things that even I never anticipated. What gets me in this latest book is that this time we see Eve working in unfamiliar territory so to speak and in the one place she has nightmares about. I don’t want to spoil anything so I won’t go into specific details about that if you haven’t read the series yet. Also in this latest book was how much the characters grew in the series and continue to with each consecutive story, be it in a novel or anthology.

This series continues to deliver some of the most fascinating and downright enjoyable characters to date. What also got to me was how Roark and Eve work together as a couple as they deal with little and very big issues in their marriage like we do every day in real life. It makes them quite relatable and these are two people I would really enjoy spending a day with. NEW YORK TO DALLAS also introduces us to a few new characters that slide right in and captivate the reader within no time. I am really hoping they show up in future In Death Stories.

Ms. Robb delivers a home run in her latest In Death story and one that will have readers clamoring for more. With each story in this series, she continues to deliver strong emotional stories that leave you aching for more. As I continue to anticipate each In Death story, Ms. Robb has continued to surprise her readers with her spin on classic plot twists that literally leave you reeling afterwards. NEW YORK TO DALLAS is a wildly entertaining story that will make tracks to her website to see if there are any more In Death stories coming up. This is that good of a story.

If you are looking for a series that will literally hold you by the throat as you read, feeling every emotion of the characters in a fast paced storyline sure to make you wish you wore a seat belt, then grab the In Death series. You won’t be disappointed.

This is an objective review and not an endorsement of this book.

Absolutely agree! I became hooked on Eve and Roarke and their ever-expanding "chosen family" just over a year ago. After devouring the entire series (in order - it's a sickness), I eagerly awaited New York to Dallas. JD/Nora didn't disappoint!
