For deer shifter Jason Fleetfoot, his relationship to Vampire detective Drew Danvers is one of the best things that happened to him. Who knew a deer shifter and a vampire would click together like this? But when Drew asks him to marry him, Jason is shocked…vampires don’t do long term or marriage. But when Jason’s sister Natalie goes nuts on planning a wedding, Jason wishes he gave into Drew’s plea to elope. Between a wedding gone wild to a serial killer taking out vampires by curdling their blood, Jason is worried Drew won’t make it to the wedding much less the honeymoon.

I absolutely adore Silvia Violet’s Protect and Serve stories in this multi-author series. She infuses her stories with some humor, lots of lovin’ and amazing characters. In the sequel to Sex on a Hoof, we find Jason and Drew celebrating their anniversary and dealing with a vampire killer as well. Returning characters from the other books (Savage Wolf & Paws on Me) pop in as well which made this reviewer very happy.  The writing is tight, story moves along at a nice pace and there were a few twists that had me flipping the pages quickly to see what would happen next. The sex was scorching hot and I suggest having your significant other or ice near by to help cool you down.

Meet Jason and Drew. Been together a year and Jason is anxious to celebrate their anniversary. He never anticipated Drew’s marriage proposal. When Jason’s sister goes hog wild on wedding planning, Jason wishes he had listened to Drew and eloped. But then a killer starts killing vampires and Drew along with Jason, a police CSI tech, race to figure out who is doing the killing because Jason fears Drew is next on the killer’s list. I loved Jason and Drew in Sex on a Hoof and was thrilled to see them make a repeat appearance in HOOFIN’ IT TO THE ALTER. Ms. Violet creates such amazing characters that are well defined, intriguing and able to steal my heart. I love how she gives them room to play, grow and love in a story. This is an author who has a knack of creating characters that grow with each story they are in, as main players or secondary characters. The world building is wonderful and you get a sense of how and who populate this town.

HOOFIN’ IT TO THE ALTER is a fun, sexy tale with some humor, scorching passion and a love that will leave you breathless. If you are looking for an author to enjoy, I highly recommend any of Silvia Violet’s books to get lost in. I am really hoping this author comes back to her three sets of characters in the future.
