Johnnie Riggs is hot on the trail of an elusive drug lord but he can’t keep his mind on the job when he spies an exotic dancer who leaves him aching when he should be concentrating on the drug lord. But this exotic dancer is more than a hot body and a pretty face for she is determined to find her missing sister and if she has to enlist the sexy army ranger to get the information she needs, even if he drives her to desire. But when their two cases converge on one another, both Johnnie and Amy will find that this is bigger than they even thought.

Kat Martin delivers a action packed thrill ride from start to finish. AGAINST THE NIGHT is latest installment in her Winds of Raines Canyon series and it is one wild ride. We met Johnnie in Against the Storm and I really enjoyed his character in that book. I was thrilled to see him front and center in AGAINST THE NIGHT. The writing was tight, characters are intriguing and the storyline delivers a few twists that had me gasping in shock.

Meet Johnnie Riggs and Amy Brewer. A former army ranger turned private investigator and a elementary schoolteacher shouldn’t have things in common but when Johnnie meets Amy as she is masquerading as a stripper while he is on the job, sparks fly and they are drawn together. But when Johnnie finds out Amy is trying to find her missing sister, he tries to help her even as he tries to keep his hands off of her. But what happens when both their cases end up converging and that what they thought was a simple crime turns out to be something much more. Can they survive it all to have their own happily ever after? What impressed me in this latest installment was how the characters continue to evolve with each book. Ms. Martin continues to give her readers strong characters that steal their hearts. Johnnie is an alpha male hero whose head is turned by innocent Amy who he thinks is a stripper. These two are perfect for one another and as they draw closer even as they try to figure out the different twists and turns that shadow them. The secondary characters keep the storyline moving and give it some intriguing moments.

AGAINST THE NIGHT is a fast paced, edge of the seat thrill ride that you cannot put down and I love Ms. Martin’s Raines of Wind Canyon series. Each book keeps getting better and better and I, for one, can’t get enough of the series. If you are looking for a story with a few twists and turns, engaging characters, mystery and suspense, then I highly recommend this author’s Raines of Wind Canyon series. I can’t wait to see what happens next in this series.
