Three people find that their destinies are being played out right in front of their faces. For Kamala, she has proven to be strong and determined to go after the most powerful magic around-the Magister’s Sorcery. But the powerful magisters don’t want Kamala in their ranks, especially after she has killed one of their own. Queen Gwynofaar is racing against the clock as she trains to be a guardian and figure out the events after her sacrifice was made at the Throne of Tears and for the Witch Queen Sidera, vengeance is hers against the Magisters. Three people racing against the clock and it will take more than blades, magic and faith to defeat the souleaters as the Wraith weakens and the threat of an ancient enemy long thought defeated, rises again.

I haven’t read the first two books in this trilogy and it was very confusing to read this third and final volume as they mentioned events that have happened in the previous two books but the book drew me in. I loved how this author created such a fantastic world to explore and it held me spellbound until the very end. The writing was tight, story flowed swiftly with a few twists that had me on the edge of my seat and the cast of characters was entertaining. What got to me was how the author describes the way magic is used. That in itself was amazing to me. I don’t want to spoil it if you haven’t read the series but this definitely was a unique way of crafting magic.

The world building alone will stun you. Ms. Friedman gives the reader a world where magic and witches are the norm. The reader gets lost in this complex world and I, for one, can’t wait to go read the first two books to see how this story begins. This is an author who knows her world inside and out, the cast of characters and what will happen. This is a new to me author but one I definitely will explore more of. LEGACY OF KINGS is more than a fantasy book, its pure entertainment within the pages. The ending alone had me going “Oh my god!” several times and when that last page was read, I sat back and just closed my eyes. It was a wild roller coaster of a ride that left me stunned.

If you haven’t picked up LEGACY OF KINGS yet, then I highly suggest it if you need your fantasy fix, though I do caution you to start with book one, Field of Souls & book 2, Wings of Wrath, first to get the whole experience of the Magisters Trilogy. Ms. Friedman is an author who if she stays on this course, will be as big as George R. R. Martin someday.

This is an objective review not an endorsement
