Kyana Aslan lived for 200 years as a strong,
independent Dark Breed. Prominently a
Vampyre, then a Lychen. But then she is CHOSEN. Made Goddess of the Hunt. CHOSEN for her determination to
survive as much as for her passion to protect those she loves.
Ryker, the new Zeus, the presumed bastard
son of Ares, God of War, has waited a long time for Kyana to admit to her true
feelings for him. When she finally
considers it, it is then an evil is resurrected in the form of Cronos, father
of Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades. His plan
is to reclaim his old throne, to rule all three realms of the gods, from
Olympus. But first, he has to remove
Kyana, the one person standing in his way.
But Ryker will not let Kyana fight this evil
alone. Not with the fate of the entire
world at stake. So, enlisting the help
of all who may be negatively affected by Cronos and those he has resurrected to
serve him, Kyana and Ryker fight to free themselves from an evil future that
none of them want.
CHOSEN, by the writing team known as Sable
Grace, is the third installment of the Dark Breed series. It is well written and creative in its scope.
Not having read either of the prior
installments of the Dark Breed series, it took a few chapters before I started
getting the gist of what was happening in CHOSEN. However, once I got into the story,
everything started coming together. So
this could very well be a stand-alone book, once you figure out who the
characters are and what they are up against.
CHOSEN is a quick read, with interesting
characters. Kyana Aslan is indeed a
beautiful, kick-ass heroine, who is sure to keep you involved with the
intriguing plot of CHOSEN.
Getting to know each of the gods and/or goddesses in CHOSEN is
what helps the reader along, assuming one has not read the first two books of
this series. Then, for fans of the
paranormal, the addition of the minor characters, especially the witches,
mages, and Novus, there is much to keep you fascinated and holding on to your
seat.
By the end of CHOSEN, you will begin
to experience the incredible writing talents of Sable Grace. The excitement and adventure of the battle
between good and evil takes flight, keeping the reader pinned to his or her
seat. Original ideas, fast paced writing,
unique supernatural creatures, mythological beings, and great plotting are a
wonder at this point. It kept me rooted,
as the battle commenced and continued with non-stop action. Sable Grace truly have a knack for this sort
of thing and makes me want to read the first two Dark Breed novels, just to see
what I’ve missed.
The reader does come to care for each of the
main characters, and you find yourself hoping for the best by story’s end. There is much to satisfy in CHOSEN,
depending on what the reader enjoys. The
minor characters sneak into your psyche, together with Kyana and Ryker. Haven, and Geoffrey, and Henry, to name a few
clearly have their own stories to tell, as well as all of the bad guys, Mehmet,
Kyana’s former husband, and even Cronos himself. I thought it was interesting that one or more
of the characters in CHOSEN had been killed off at one time, perhaps
more than once, then brought back to life again. I can see how that would add a lot of tension
and suspense to this series.
CHOSEN is a fabulous read and one any
reader who enjoys the paranormal would enjoy.
It is well written and full of plenty of surprises, twists, and turns,
and I look forward to reading more of this series. With the leaving of a few loose ends in CHOSEN,
it seems obvious there may be a continuation of this series, one I’ll be sure
not to miss.
This is an objective review and not an
endorsement of this book.
