Welcome Gabrielle Evans and a Contest

Welcome to Love Romances & More Reviews, Gabrielle Evans. Comfortable? Let’s begin, shall we? Please tell us a little bit about yourself.

Hi! Thanks for hosting me today.

Well, there’s not much to say about me. I’m a Siren Exclusive author writing mostly M/M erotic romance. I’m a small town girl who grew up and ran away to the big city where I live with my Prince and our two boys.

My dad taught me to change a tire, fish, and never accept less than I deserve. My mom taught me to be the kind of woman others want to be, never back down from a challenge, and that everyone makes mistakes. Second chances are rarely undeserved.

Is there something special you do to celebrate when one of your books is released?

I don’t do anything special for every book, but when it’s a special release number—for example, my 50th release—I usually host a blog party or something fun for my readers.

Could you tell us a couple of favorite books that inspired you to write?

I love books in all shapes, colors, sizes, and genres. I began reading Dean Koontz in Junior High and knew I wanted to create worlds like that one day. Growing up, I was always more interested in dark monsters and evil world-domination plots than what I thought to be cheesy, “cowboy take me away” romance novels.

It wasn’t until I was in my twenties that I read my first romance, Birthright by Nora Roberts, out of sheer curiosity. I was completely engrossed and quickly realized it was nothing like what I had imagined. Then I found I could have my “monsters” and my romance with series like The Black Dagger Brotherhood by J.R. Ward and Night Hunters by Sherrilyn Kenyon.

It wasn’t until I read my first M/M romance, My Lupine Lover by Stormy Glenn, that I said, “That’s it. Right there. That’s what I want to write.”

Is music a factor for you while you are writing? Do certain songs put you in the right frame of mind to write certain stories?

Music is certainly a big part of my writing. I can’t listen to music while I write, however. I find it too distracting. However, if a particular song is poignant to a scene, or if there is a song/playlist that inspires a story, I will spend up to an hour listening to music before I begin my writing day.

Are your characters able to love or do they need to be taught?

Like with real people, it depends on the character. Some are quick to love. They don’t care if it’s been five years or five minutes. When it’s right, it’s right. I have others, like Zasha from my Haven series, who have to be dragged kicking and screaming to the realization that what they are experiencing is true love. In the end, they all get it together and have their happy-ever-after, though.

Do you have a book that was easiest to write or one that was the hardest?

The first Gods of Chaos, Devil Did Grin, was definitely the easiest to write. The story came in full, vivid color, and it took me only four days to finish it.

I’ve just started the final Lawful Disorder book (so far untitled), and this one will probably be the hardest for me. Not only do I have to say goodbye to my guys at the end of this book, but Rayce and Jasper are two of the most stubborn characters I’ve ever encountered. I have a feeling I will be exhausted by the time they’re finished with me.

What can readers expect next from you?

The beginning of the year was filled with a lot of personal trials that took away from writing, so unfortunately, I won’t have any releases in April.

May is looking like a good month, though. Look for Haven 9: Four Letter Words and The Moonlight Breed 11: Unspoken to release.

I’m also working on a side project that I hope to release in its entirety by late summer, early fall. I can’t say much about it now, but it’s going to be big.

Thanks for coming. Is there anything else you want to add?

Thanks for having me! I love my readers. I wouldn’t get to live this amazing life as an author without them.

Primal Instincts [The Moonlight Breed 10]
www.bookstrand.com/primal-instincts

He can’t cure world hunger, negotiate peace in the Middle East, or even toast bread without burning it. Yet, for some reason, Elder Layke Winters is expected to have all the answers, and it’s beyond exhausting. Everything is different with Aspen, though. He’s different. For the first time in over a thousand years, he feels free—completely alive. Is it any wonder he’s falling fast for the bright-eyed imp?
Aspen never thought someone like Layke could want him, but once they come face-to-face, the elder awakens something wild and primal inside him. Layke is his. He’s certain of it, and he’s prepared to fight heaven and hell to keep him.

The two have almost nothing in common, though. With the odds stacked against them, and more questions than answers, especially about Aspen’s origins, will the pair ever find themselves on the right side of forever?

Love the stories I have read. Just wish the book budget was big enough for all Gabrielle Evans' books that I have in my TBB list.

Gabrielle, It's amazing how similar we are in our thought processes. I often laugh out loud at the humor you put in your books.

In 2010, my brother gave me my first kindle, and I went nuts with it. But, I was so tired of 'universalizing' romance. I was a gay guy, and I wanted to read about men who were men, loving each other. I knew there were gay romances out there, but I wanted something more. I not only wanted m/m, but I wanted telepathy, forever mates, werewolves, vampires, and ghosts to be my dream lovers. I started looking for books in that direction.

While you found 'My Lupine Lover' by Stormy Glenn (incredible book, by the way), I found 'Heartsong' by Stormy. I went crazy, and read it multiple times. I still read it as 'comfort reading' when I'm feeling down. Stormy is incredible, as are you.

You were one of the first authors to communicate with me via facebook and email, and I can't tell you what a thrill it is. I'm in my mid 40s, and I vividly remember a time when 'fan mail' was snail mail, where you usually didn't hear back from the author or person you admired. Thanks for always taking the time to speak with your fans. We love you! and we love these incredible books that you write.
