Now that he’s inherited the title, Ashton Lanley, Viscount Thorncliff’s life is all planned. He’ll marry a suitable young female, settle down, and raise a family. He isn’t very excited about this program but accepts it, until he attends a scandalous masked ball and meets Gavin Wynters.
Gavin is not noble. He’s a master thief, and a two-hundred-year-old vampire, and there’s something he really wants.

This is an absolutely brilliant short story. The world building, the historical and contemporary scenes, the characters, and the plot all meld together in an amazing blend of passion, lust, hate, revenge, and determination.
The book is seamless and faultless, racing the reader back and forth through history as the plot unfolds and the story unravels. Ash and Gavin and the main secondary character have multilayered and interesting personalities which carry the story as much as the neat plot does. There’s enough information about history and vampires to answer any questions the reader might have, and plenty of emotion, although very little sex. However, in such a short word length descriptive sex isn’t needed. We clearly understand what went on!
I don’t know anything about this author and was quite saddened to find they only have one other book out. Hopefully they’ll write some more soon. This person is extremely talented and I can’t wait for more stories.

This is an objective review and not an endorsement of this book.
