The only thing that sustains Godric St. John is his mysterious avenger persona, the Ghost of St. Giles. He is determined to protect the innocent of London and does a great job doing it until one night; he meets the woman who will change his life…if she doesn’t kill him first.

Lady Margaret Reading is one determined woman. Blaming the mysterious ghost of St. John for her husband’s death, she has vowed to find this scourge and kill him.  Yet when these two meet, past becomes present and passion simmers between them. But what happens when Margaret finds out her husband is alive and well? Will she ever forgive the man who stole her heart then broke it in two?

Wow is all I can say after finishing LORD OF DARKNESS. Ms. Hoyt delivers one rousing story to fall in love with. This was my first time reading her Maiden Lane series and I definitely have to go back and grab the other books in the series. The writing is tight, story flows smoothly and the characters are quite enjoyable. The author delivers a few twists that had me on the edge of my seat and I was really hoping Margaret would shake up Godric’s life. The connection between those two was apparent when they first meet and I loved how the author gives the readers’ two wonderful characters to root for.

Meet Godric St. John and Lady Margaret Reading. Two lonely people and in the shadows, will find themselves face to face. Margaret brings joy, laughter and light to the shadows that Godric clings to. These two are full of secrets and the author does a great job in peeling back those layers to show us who they are under there. I absolutely loved the scenes where Godric fell for Margaret and vice versa. Godric was one of those strong silent type who finds his life is changed for the better with Margaret bringing light to the darkness. The secondary characters kept pace and I found them quite entertaining.

LORD OF DARKNESS is one of those can’t put down books that the reader will enjoy immensely. The writing is on par with the great storyteller this author is and I, for one, can not wait to see where this author goes in her Maiden Lane series. If you enjoy a story that steals your heart, captures your imagination and delivers hours of reading pleasure then settle in with LORD OF THE DARKNESS. I can’t wait to check out the rest of the series now.

This is an objective review and not an endorsement
