J.R. Ward has finally rewarded her fans with the long awaited story of Blay and Qhuinn in LOVER AT LAST.  These two have taken angst to a new height, but finally their time has come.

Qhuinn was rejected by his upper class vampire family for being deformed; his eyes are two different colors.  He was not only disowned, but beaten to within an inch of his life before being found by his closest friend, Blay.  Qhuinn has spent his formative years with Blay and his family before eventually moving into the Brotherhood mansion.  Blay has been in love with Qhuinn for as long as he can remember, but Qhuinn has never returned his feelings.  Every time it appears that Blay and Qhuinn are getting close, something gets in their way.  Now Blay is in a relationship with Qhuinn’s cousin Saxton, causing Qhuinn to take a good long look at his life and what he wants from it.  As LOVER AT LAST begins, Qhuinn has realized he truly loves Blay, but is scared and still refuses to acknowledge he is gay.  Blay has broken up with Saxton and has finally given up on Qhuinn.  Or so it seems.

Qhuinn and Blay’s romance has been building with each book in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series.  In fact, LOVER AT LAST may be the most anticipated book in this series.  Author J.R. Ward does not disappoint.  As with all the books in this series, Qhuinn and Blay’s romance is hot and steamy, but is not the entire book.  Qhuinn and Layla, the Chosen from the prior book, are pregnant.  Although they have no real feelings for each other, they both want a child and Qhuinn is there for Layla through every difficult step of her pregnancy.  Her story with Xcor, the enemy trying to overthrow Wrath, is also heating up in this book.  And as if all that is not enough, we are also treated with a supporting story of Trez and his brother, iAm, where we are given hints as to who Trez might be mating soon.  Assail, another character introduced in the last book, makes a big appearance here and helps set up the next book in this series.

J.R. Ward’s LOVER AT LAST has loads of what we have come to expect from the Black Dagger Brotherhood books, a family formed, not born, who lives together, fights together and grieves together.  But most of all, they look after each other.  As each new romance unfolds, readers delight in each and every one of them.  J.R. Ward’s talented writing style, interwoven storylines and super sexy characters have paranormal fans once again applauding her latest release, LOVER AT LAST.
