Andy is the
kind of person who’s always talking and laughing about life. Henry takes life a
lot more seriously. But somehow they end up together. In love. Until they cross
the path of a serial killer. The previous victim of the killer is still around.
Sort of. Enough to take an interest in what’s happening anyway.
The story
has an interesting opening with a couple of neat twists to it and a few turns I
wasn’t expecting, all of them great. Although it’s a male/male erotic romance,
and a murder story, it’s neither too sexy nor too gory for the average reader.
Just scary enough to make the reader gasp, and hot enough to reach for a fan.
There were a couple of very nice action scenes and several laugh out loud
places in the story.
For a
novella there’s quite a large cast, and all the characters are well developed,
though obviously some more than others. I liked all the secondary characters,
and certainly wouldn’t mind meeting some of them again.
Some readers
might find in the ending of the book a very neat image, mirroring something
from earlier in the story and more or less closing a loop. I thought it spoiled
the true ending of the book, which I felt was a few pages earlier. Your mileage
may differ here though.
Either way,
this is a good read, with a nice sense of balance between the various features.
This is an objective review and not
an endorsement of this book.
