The king has ordered that three clans fight to the death in order for one true winner of a disputed glen. For James Cameron, ‘The Devil’ leads his men, determined to win whatever the cost. He has no weaknesses or so his enemies think until he lays eyes on a woman from a rival clan. One who takes his breath away and he is drawn to the beauty.

Catriona MacDonald knows what James ‘The Devil’ Cameron is all about. Her past dealings with him reinforced that if you get involved with him, you are bound to get scorched. But Catriona is determined to bring peace back to the land and between the clans. But when James touches Catriona, all she knows is that she needs him as much as he needs her. Two strong willed people determined to succeed at whatever the cost. But will it leave them both with broken hearts?

This first book into the world of highland clans, warriors and more is a wonderful introduction to the world Ms. Welfonder has created. Three clans (The Camerons, The MacDonalds, and the Mackintoshes) who have lived in peace are stirred up again when the heiress of the Glen of Many Legends and didn’t leave a will over who will own and reign the glen. I got to admit, the author does a great job in creating such a fantastic introduction to the clans, the main characters and more. You get sucked into the story immediately and you can’t help but fall in love with James and Catriona as well. The writing is tight with a fast paced storyline that captured my imagination from the first page to the last. I really enjoyed finding out about all three clans and who the main players for each were.

The characters are very well written and I especially enjoyed the scenes with James and Catriona. She was no milk & water lass at all. She was a sassy heroine that gave as good as James when she went toe to toe with him. James was hard as a warrior should be but also knew to yield when he was with Catriona. The simmering sexual tension between these two was combustible. I swore the book was going to go up in flames with all the sparks these two were throwing around. The author does a great job in creating such intriguing characters and there were a few secondary characters that made me want to know more about them.

SINS OF A HIGHLAND DEVIL is one wild, pulse-pounding ride from start to finish. With a fast paced storyline, captivating characters and more within the pages of the first book in the Highland Warriors trilogy, the reader gets swept away to a time where men were warriors and the women who can tame them. If you enjoy a rousing and rollicking historical romance, then you need to run to get this one. I guarantee you will be like me, eager for book two once the last page of this one is turned. I can’t wait to see what happens next in this series. Sue-Ellen Welfonder is fast becoming one of my new favorites to read now.
