When Lady
Verity Fitzroy wakens after a party, she finds herself in bed with her
brother’s enemy, Rory Lennox, the Duke of Abshire. Forced into marriage to keep
a scandal away with Rory, Verity finds herself torn between falling in love and
keeping her secret from being discovered by him. Rory Lennox never intended to
awaken in the bed of Verity. Determined to keep her honor intact and to keep
peace, he offers her marriage but Rory finds that Verity isn’t the soft spoken
women he remembers. Instead she is a spitfire and Rory is challenged to see
what lies under that proper demeanor. But Rory is in for a shock when he finds
out who and what are causing the troubles Verity is facing. For this rake,
falling in love was never in the cards for him and it will take all his
strength and cunning to save her even as he steals her heart in the process.
THE DUKE
DIARIES is a
wonderful story, full of intriguing characters, a fast paced storyline and a
romance that is doomed unless a certain duke faces his fears. Oh man, I opened
this book thinking I might have to start from the beginning of the series yet
once I started reading, I could not put it down. It had mystery, romance,
intriguing characters and more all within the pages and Ms. Nash creates such
compelling characters, I couldn’t help but root for Rory and Verity the minute
they stepped onto the pages together. The author does a great job in creating a
story that can be read as a stand alone if you haven’t read the other books in
the series yet and you don’t feel lost, trying to figure out plot points among
other things either which was a great relief to me since I hate starting in the
middle of a series. Though I have to say this made me want to read books one
and two now after I finished THE DUKE DIARIES.
Meet Rory
Lennox. He is the new Duke of Abshire and has no clue how he got into Verity’s
bed when he is awoken by her brother demanding he marry his sister and then to
face his former best friend out in the field for satisfaction. But Verity isn’t
the dutiful girl Rory remembers as she refuses his proposal and vows to marry
for love, not because honor or scandal. I really enjoyed Rory. He was a strong
hero who knew his worth and even though he is a war hero, he prefers to not
tell everyone his brave actions during war. I found him to be charming and
multi-dimensional character, one who had me eager for more as I flipped the
pages. Verity is his perfect partner. Honest, determined and more, she is a
woman who knows what she wants and has a secret she is determined to keep no
matter the cost. These two are a perfect pairing in my opinion. Both give the
other something they need and watching them fall in love within the pages had
me smiling as well as swooning at times. All the characters in THE DUKE
DIARIES are wonderfully well written, enjoyable and quite intriguing, even
the secondary characters. I laughed, groaned and more when I read this latest
story by Ms. Nash and I got to admit, these characters stole my heart.
THE DUKE
DIARIES is a fun,
well written story of love, mystery, passion and more that a reader with be
enchanted after they flip the first page. If you are looking for that one book
to enjoy, then I urge you to check out THE DUKE DIARIES and the Royal
Entourage series. It is one series where you can’t help but want that happy
ever after. Now I need to go check on books one and two as well as the rest of
the series books to see what happens next.
