Anna works for the CIA, facing constant danger and traveling the globe for her job. Company policy forces her to take a sabbatical and she is extremely bored so contacts Madame Eve. Maybe a romance would help her kill the time.
Despite owning a successful company and being chased by many women, Brendan has never recovered from his adolescence as a nerdy weedy kid. He finds it hard to accept that women like him for himself. So he contacts Madame Eve for a partner who he can enjoy being with.

Part of the 1Night Stand series
The beginning of the book deals with each of them uncovering who they really are and what they really think. This part of the story is fascinating as each one needs to know themselves completely and thoroughly before they can get to really know each other. Their meeting and romance is delicately handled and the results are a great read. The end of the story is mostly told, rather than shown, but with such a short book length (12k) I expect the author didn’t have any choice if she wanted to include complications and details. It feels a bit rushed, and I’d have definitely liked to see some of it happening, but again, I expect that was a word count issue. I did appreciate that the difficulties were shared with the reader instead of an old fashioned pretty pink bow. The realism makes the story more poignant and the characters more real.

This is an objective review and not an endorsement of this book.
