Covered Up With Laura Strickland

Back to school favorite:  pens or notebooks?

I loved notebooks when I was in school. In fact, I used to ask my Mom to buy me a composition notebook when she shopped every week. I didn’t always write in it, but would draw pictures, make fantasy maps and create whole worlds. A notebook was one of the best presents she could give me!

Hiking or jumping in a pile of leaves?

Who can resist jumping in a pile of leaves—especially with a pet? Jessie, the dog I have now, loves rolling in the leaves. Unfortunately, her spaniel/poodle coat acts like a dust mop, and she carries them all into the house!

Halloween or Thanksgiving?

Halloween has always been my favorite holiday of the whole year. As a girl, I would draw dozens of spooky black cats, ghosts and pumpkins and tape them up in the windows of our house. Who can resist the magic of dusk on Halloween night when anything—just anything—might be lurking in those shadows?

Hot buttered rum or hot chocolate?

Hot buttered rum sounds awfully good. Can I have one now?

Who's book (besides one of yours) are you most looking forward to reading?

I can’t wait to get my hands on the newest Terry Pratchett book, “Raising Steam”. I love Discworld and would probably go to live there, if I could!

I also loved getting new notebooks - still do, even though I've moved to creating on screen and scribbling notes on whatever paper I can find. Enjoyed the interview!

What a fun interview, Laura. I think I'll take a cup of hot cocoa and curl up with your book.

Sounds like you were quite creative as a child, Laura--fantasy maps, creating worlds of your own. And now you do it with words on a computer! I've never tried hot buttered rum, but I'd like to.
