This short story is a sexual encounter between two unnamed men, strangers, one unseen. It’s unexpected, the protagonist alone in a deserted pub courtyard when the unknown man approaches him.

It’s a very different story, all the action, suspense, character development and plot happens during the single scene which is basically just sex. Ms. Brooke demonstrates that it’s quite possible to tell a story this way as the reader gains an understanding of the main character and the situation while he’s engaging with the other man.

The story is very short for obvious reasons, and the majority of this free read is the first chapters of several other books written by Ms. Brooke offering a range of tastes of her work. While I appreciate the techniques and the skills of the author the actual story didn’t really appeal to me, although I enjoy MM romances.

This is an objective review and not an endorsement of this book.
