In a world of standing stones and circles, a world where old gods/goddesses are forgotten, there are a core group who believe in the old ways and worship them. But there are few who want to usher in a new world order, to release a goddess so powerful, so destructive, it will take a prophecy to bring the descendants of the gods together and to stop the evil that is circling around them

Brienne of Yester has a secret power. She has been able to manipulate fire and when her power surges, well Brienne is scared out of her wits even if a bit curious as well. William de Brus is on a mission for his king when he meets Brienne and finds that the woman is more than he could imagine, even as a power inside William surges and melds with Briennes’. But when Brienne’s father, Lord Hugh decides she will be perfect for his plan to unfold, it will take all that William has inside him as well as a few new and old friends to save Brienne from the mad man who is hell bent on releasing the Goddess of Fire and destroy all of humanity.

I got to admit the author does a really wonderful job in capturing the readers’ imagination. I could not put this book down, not even to eat. Ms. Brisbin delivers an intriguing tale of gods/goddesses, good vs. evil, the power of love and more all within the pages of RISING FIRE. It’s a mix of fantasy, historical, myths and legends and a dose of romance to keep things interesting. I loved the characters as they took over the story and made it come alive. It’s a rare book to do that when I read. The author does a marvelous job in capturing the characters personalities, their quirks and vulnerabilities plus the addition of a few new players toward the end, well; you get a cast of characters that will keep you on the edge of your seat. The story is a fast pace thrill ride and I couldn’t get enough of it.

RISING FIRE is a wonderful introduction to the world that is filled with gods/goddesses, myths and legends and so much more. Ms. Brisbin delivers a fast paced, edge of your seat ride that will leave you spellbound till the very end. With the right amount of tension, mystery and more, the author delivers a story that leaves you breathless and wanting more. This author has a new fan in me and I am eager to see where this series goes next. I just hope I won’t have to wait too long for it. Those who enjoy dark fantasy, magic and the triumph of good over evil will find RISING FIRE a pure delight.
