THE EDGE OF DESIRE is the newest addition in the Bastion Club series. This is Christian Allardyce, the 6th Marquess of Dearne’s story. Christian leaves for war and expects that the woman he loved, Lady Letitia would be waiting for him. However, life takes an unexpected turn and Letitia marries another man. They are brought together again when Letitia reaches out to Christian for help. How can he refuse as feelings between them are still simmering?
Leitita and Christian make a memorable couple. Letitia can be a very stubborn woman. Christian is a very honorable man who has never fallen out of love. Both are strong-willed characters with lots of depth and complexity. They have to resolve their feelings as they feel betrayed by the other. It takes a lot for them to overcome this issue and the author does a great job of exploring and developing their characters. There is love as well as passion between them. The eroticism is woven nicely within the storyline. It accentuates and enhances the love story.
Having read most of Ms. Laurens’ books, she has been a hit or miss with me but I did enjoy THE EDGE OF DESIRE. It was briskly paced and the author does a great job of tantalizing the readers with the whodunit. It wasn’t boring and it kept my attention as the love story as well as the mystery keeps you involved with the characters. This is a solid addition to the Bastion Club series and fans of Ms. Laurens’ will thoroughly love it.
