BACHELOR DEGREE by Judith Marks-White

Publisher: Ballantine Date published: July 2008 ISBN 978-0345492395 Contemporary Romance Trade Paperback Reviewed by Valerie It seems the only problem Samantha Krasner has is her mother. Madeline Krasner-Wolfe is a twice married, rich woman who wants to see her daughter happily married. She constantly reminds her daughter that the clock is ticking. When Samantha signs up the hot artist of the day, Blake Hamilton, who is New York’s most eligible bachelor, Madeline sees a potential husband for Samantha and proceeds to start pulling strings. Samantha is on her own agenda though, and soon, she and Blake are enjoying hot, sexy nights and days together and her heart is slowly warming up to the charming Brit. Then her boss from Hell returns from Europe, a clairvoyant who relies on the tingles on her toes and nipples tells her that not everything is at it seems and it looks like a young gynecologist may want to break up the Samantha/Blake party, things are set for a turbulant time for poor Samantha. This author takes the readers to all the trendiest places in Manhatten, leads us through the world of art and artists, takes us to London and all the hot spots and delivers a story that is both sweet and sexy. The characters leap from the pages and they are colourfully described. Samantha’s mother, Madeline is a character that the readers will enjoy. But who would want to have a mother like her? A mother who openly talks about her men’s sagging parts and her own cosmetic operations graphically. I personally was drooling over all the food that abounded in this story and hankered after some of the culinary delights that were constantly being served. This is a great book to just sit back and enjoy. It’s a nice break from heavier reading and is pure entertainment. Judith Marks-White cleverly mixes comedy and extravanza to make BACHELOR DEGREE a fun, entertaining read.
