Lake Johnson has been trying to gather her courage and ask the handsome, sexy gallery owner, Maxamillian Grey out. When she meets his daughter, she realises the girl is a very psychic, talented girl and that there is a darkness nearby who wants to have her. Lake has been doubting her own powers after they had let her down and her friend was almost killed by a dark soul. Now, she’s on holiday in Taos, New Mexico and Max looks like the right kind of distraction she needs. Max has taken notice of Lake and although he has been burned once and is over protective of his daughter, they start to explore their attraction. But, Lake has a problem. How to help his daughter, get Max to believe her and protect the complicated girl from the darkness that is reaching out for her. And, can she trust her own instincts?

It’s been a while since I’ve read a book from this extremely talented author. Ms. Clark knows how to keep the reader on the edge of her seat all the way through her story. I love the way she brings the reader into her villain’s head and shows her all the nasty, dark thoughts. I loved Lake and Max. Their banter back and forth was very entertaining. Their tentative attempts to get to know each other, then the explosive sex they experience. Ms. Clark adds a lot of sexual tension and tender, sensual love scenes to this wonderful story. I know I was scrolling down the pages frantically to find out just who was after Max’s daughter and Ms. Clark has the knack of keeping you guessing right to the end. Suspense and the paranormal, two of my favourite genres together, written by an awesome writer, this must be heaven!
