Antonia Tiranth’s writing style is light and imaginative. Her characters are multifaceted and animated. The story is constantly moving at a nice clip as the tale is told alternately from Phi’s and Aer’s points of view. As Phi and Aer attempt to save dragon-kind, the story of their romance begins to unfold. The love story, the dragons, and most especially those endearing dragon hatchlings bring wonderful imagery and vitality reminiscent of the very best fairy tales. The dialog is witty with a hint of humor. The secondary characters are quirky and vibrant and really add to the story. This reader thoroughly enjoyed Antonia Tiranth’s THE QUICKENING and can’t wait to see what this talented fantasy writer pens next. Perhaps, Aer’s brother might get a story of his own? After all, the crazy dragon threatening dragon-kind still needs his day of reckoning, right?
