For U.S. Foreign Agent Sam Chase, her life will never be the same. Blackmailed into serving under a new branch of government and forced to use her psychic gift even after many years of hiding it and denying it’s existence. She never wanted this particular ability and she thought it was hidden but someone knew and before she could blink, she was recruited to a special branch and told to use her gift by the coldest woman Sam has ever met, Mrs. Z. Add in three other women with varying psychic abilities, a case so macabre that it gives her the willies and another agent stroking her libido to a fever pitch, Sam is ready to scream and run away. Can Sam and her fellow agents solve this case before one of them gets too close to solving it?

DARK NIGHTS, DARK DREAMS is the first book in Ms. Russe’s new series about four special women who are recruited to a branch of the US Government they never heard of. I really enjoyed this first book and the author definitely delivers one suspenseful ride from start to finish. Full of intriguing characters, a mystery that has many twists and turns plus some really hot sexual tension between agents Sam Chase and Lance “Bear” Rutledge. Ms. Russe gives the reader an emotionally charged story that keeps you guessing what happens next.

Meet Sam Chase, a US foreign agent in Iraq where she finds out she has been recruited for a special branch where the unexplained cases go. Told she has no choice but to use her hidden gift of sight/visions, Sam is both furious and scared to find that she has to solve a case so weird it has her spooked. Add in the hunky Lance Rutledge, an agent who doesn’t believe in that “supernatural bunk” and you’ve got the makings of one heck of a wild ride. Lance “Bear” Rutledge is a man who believes in solving things logically and doesn’t believe in that “supernatural crap”. When he meets the team from the CIA, he finds himself knee deep in a case so weird, he begins to believe that some things are out there that have no logical explanation. These two are like water and oil and boy, do the sparks fly the minute they meet. Sam is a strong yet interesting heroine. Full of contradictions, she captures your attention from the beginning. Denying she has a gift, afraid to hone it, Sam is a woman who finds herself thrown in a world where she has no idea how to act or believe in. Her attraction to Bear is red hot and by the middle of the book, I swore these two seemed ready to combust. Ms. Russe delivers some intriguing characters that keep the reader entertained and slowly she delivers their secrets as they move toward solving their first case. Can Sam and her fellow agents find out who is raising the dead? Will Sam and Bear find a way to put those hot sparks out?

DARK NIGHTS, DARK DREAMS is one pulse pounding ride that captivated me from the beginning. It starts off slow as this author sets up the story/series and introduces you to the main characters then BAM! The story explodes as they race towards a climatic ending that will leave you gasping. A promising start to a brand new series from Ms. Russe and definitely one to keep on your bookcase; I highly enjoyed the start of the Sisterhood of the Sight series and look forward to their continued adventures.
