Callie returns to Oak Hollow where she spent a few short months when her Aunt passes away. She can’t wait to leave it behind once again. Things never change in this one horse town. That is, except for David. David was the one person who accepted the rebel teen Callie was all those years ago. On his shoulders rested the town’s dreams of greatness. Now he is the town’s most despised citizen. Now he is in trouble once again. And as a lawyer, she might be able to save him…whether he will let her or not!

My heart ached for David. This is a character that you just know in your heart is a good man, even if no one else knows it, even David himself. Callie is a character that took me a while to like. She just came across as a crabby, spoiled brat at the beginning of the book, but she is a strong woman who has pulled herself up by her bootstraps. She made something of herself even when the odds were against her. You’ve just gotta like that!

I was rooting for these two long lost friends and hoped that David would soon be free to show his true nature to the town that has spurned him. Author Jean Brashear made me wait much to long, yet the suspense was a pleasurable agony. Don’t miss out on Ms Brashear’s newest offer THE MAN SHE ONCE KNEW. It is a sweet story that will linger with you well after the last page is turned.

THIS IS NOT AN ENDORSEMENT OF THIS BOOK. THIS IS AN OBJECTIVE UNBIASED REVIEW.
