Lady Hero Batten is beautiful, has a good heart and though her fiancé, Marquis of Manderville, is a tad bit boring, she is content with her life. That is until her fiancé’s brother, the notorious Griffin Remington, blows into her life and causes her to dream of a passion that only Griffin can quench. Sparks fly as these two find that the battle of wits between them sparks more than their emotions but also their passion. Can a rake and a naïve beauty find the way to love even as Griffin’s enemies come out after them?

NOTORIOUS PLEASURES is the second book in the charming Maiden Lane series and one I found quite enjoyable. The writing was tight, the storyline flowed swiftly and there were a few twists that had me gasping “OH MAN!” Ms. Hoyt does a remarkable job in creating characters that the reader falls in love with. She has a bad boy rebel, an innocent beauty and a love not to be denied. I was engrossed in this book from the moment I opened the first page.

Meet Lady Hero Batten, a woman with impeccable manners, charities and though she is engaged to stuffy and humorless Marquis of Manderville, she finds her life far from being a story book fantasy but she was content…until her fiancé’s black sheep brother blows in and turns her world upside down. Hero is a fun character. The reader gets a glimpse into the secret wishes Hero has inside and that she had locked away for the proper life she thinks she has to have. She is a strong woman who feels she needs to do her duty but the pleasure she feels for Griffin has her turned inside out. These two cause some serious sexual tension. From the moment Griffin comes in contact with Hero, the sexual tension continues to rise until you are waiting with a bated breath for it to explode. There were some intriguing secondary characters that left me hoping they would be in future books and kept the story from being stale.

NOTORIOUS PLEASURES is an intriguing, wonderful story that had one minor issue that annoyed me at times-the constant repetitive reminders of how bad Griffin was or how innocent Hero is. It got in the way of the story at times and made me just skims the pages. Otherwise NOTORIOUS PLEASURES is a decent story that the reader will enjoy immensely. Ms. Hoyt is a talented storyteller who brings out her characters wishes, dreams and desires within the pages of her books. If you are looking for a fun, romantic sexy story then grab this wonderful tale. I look forward to reading more in the Maiden Lane series in the future from Ms. Hoyt.

This is an objective review and not an endorsement of this book.
