Hutch Carmody has good looks, a thriving ranch and has finally grown up as he made peace with his illegitimate brother, Slade. Now trying to figure out his life, Hutch finds he still has feelings for Kendra Shepherd, the woman who walked away once before and broke his heart. Now under the Montana sky, Hutch and Kendra will find that romance is sweeter a second time around if they just trust in their hearts.

I love Linda Lael Miller’s books. From her contemporaries to her historical books, she delivers timeless stories that reader’s fall in love with. In her second book in her new trilogy, The Parable, Montana Series, readers find out the history of Hutch and Kendra, two characters we met in the first book, Big Sky Country. The sparks fly each time these two come into the scene together. Linda Lael Miller delivers a fun, satisfying read in BIG SKY MOUNTAIN. I enjoyed finding out about these two’s past and how they worked through their differences to find the strength to believe in their love again. The writing is tight, story flows at a nice pace and the characters are very well written.

Meet Hutch. He has finally found peace in his life. Granted stopping his wedding at the altar was a bad thing to do but he did try to tell Brylee he wasn’t ready for marriage. But when he runs into Kendra Shephard he finds his feelings for her overwhelm him at times. But he can’t forget her betrayal when they were dating years before. I enjoyed Hutch in this story. When I first met him in the first book, he seemed quite spoiled but a year or so later, Hutch has grown up some. He comes across in BIG SKY MOUNTAIN as more grounded and able to admit he isn’t over Kendra at all. I liked how these two worked through their feelings but wished there was a little more talk between Hutch and Kendra over what happened years before. I felt that wasn’t addressed in the storyline. Kendra felt a little overwhelmed at times. She waffled a lot between loving Hutch and hating him. It got tedious after awhile when all I wanted to do was slap her silly and say “Decide all ready!” There were a few sub-plots that had me intrigued and I am really hoping they get settled in the third book.

BIG SKY MOUNTAIN is a satisfying read with a cast of characters that are unique and quite enjoyable. The readers will fall in love with the sexy cowboys that populate Parable, Montana. I know I did. Ms. Miller is legendary in her wonderful western stories and I hope you get a chance to check this contemporary trilogy/series out. I look forward to seeing how the trilogy ends and to find out if a few characters find their own happily ever after. BIG SKY MOUNTAIN delivers a fun, entertaining read to spend a lazy afternoon with.

This is an objective review and not an endorsement of this book.
