Talking with Jaye Garland

Welcome to Love Romances & More Reviews, Jaye Garland. Comfortable? Let’s begin, shall we? Please tell us a little bit about yourself.

How would you describe yourself using only five words?
Curious, Adventurous, Explorer, Chocoholic, and Chatty.

Do you have any guilty pleasures?
Oh yeah! My all-time biggest treat is Marble Slab’s Sweet Cream ice cream topped with fresh strawberries. You know it’s gotta be great to top chocolate. J

If we asked your muse to describe you using five words, what do you think she would say?
Detailed, Over-booked, Outgoing, Persistent, and Determined.

Name one thing readers would be surprised to know about you.
I was raised on the Rosebud Sioux Indian Reservation in south-central South Dakota, and no, I have no Indian blood. My grandfather bought land the tribe had put up for sale. I’m very fortunate to have lived in a place that was so focused on family and community.

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
I’d have to pick a cabin in the mountains overlooking a lake out my back door and the whole lower valley out my front. With all the requisite amenities like indoor plumbing and Internet, this would be my perfect writer’s retreat. Of course, I’d need frequent trips to visit my kids and their families, and to writer’s conferences. (See what I mean? No short answers from me. I’m a detailed chatty Cathy. Ha!)

If you could collaborate with one author who would it be?
Easy answer is Julie Garwood because she’s so talented. She’s spanned genres and done it very well. Her stories are layered with all the elements that keep me turning those pages. I’ve met her at conference and she’s super nice.

What can readers expect next from you?
My current project is a true Historical Romance. The little girl from THE 25th HOUR, Angel Rose Reed, is now a young woman, but is still creating mischief for the whole town. No paranormal elements, so far, but the story is not yet finished, so anything can happen between now and the final edits. <wink>

Thanks for coming. Is there anything else you want to add?

Chased through time by her father’s murderer, Houston architect Sheridan Wells unwittingly ‘erases’ herself and hurtles back to 1877 Wyoming Territory, to the moment that changed her family’s history forever—to the source of her father’s wealth—wealth the villain swears is his.

Heart locked by guilt, widower Alexander Reed, a War of the Rebellion hero-turned-rancher, attempts to disprove the transient woman’s story, labels her a charlatan and intends to dismiss her, but his precocious daughter has already claimed Sheridan as her new mother.
When the villain renews his quest for wealth and vengeance, Sheridan and Alexander must combine forces to defeat the crazed killer. This time, and no matter the cost, Alexander vows to protect his family. Will Sheridan’s stalker claim his due, or will she find sanctity within the family of her heart…before the window of time fades forever into the 25th hour?

Good morning, Dawn, and thank you for hosting me today. I had fun with your questions. Describing myself in only five words wasn't too hard. My Muse was rather mean, though. Ha!

I don't think my Muse agrees much with how I described myself. Was anyone surprised? Ha! Loved the challenge, though, and I'd love to hear how you describe yourselves. Can you do it in 5 words?

Cute blog! You nailed the 5 word description. How come I never knew about Marble Slab?? Smiling at you!

Hi Jan! Marble Slab is where I go when you and I can't meet up with each other. But, no pressure . . . Ha!

I don't know. Chocolate is pretty good, but Marble Slab is great any time, any way.

I too would live in the mountains in one of those Thomas Kinkade cabins. I loved living in Wyoming. Texas is amazing, but something about the Teton Mountains that calls to me.

Rosa, you're a girl after my own heart. We'll do the Chocolate, Marble Slab, Mountain Cabin Retreat real soon--even if we have to sit in front of a painting of the Grand Tetons.
